Mask Therapy: Warm Oil Mask

Warm Oil Mask

usually combined with heat treatment to increase the skin's capacity to absorb the oil. Intra-red/radiant heat is commonly used with oil mask.

Common ingredient used in oil mask is:

    • Almond Oil
    • Olive Oil mix & Ground almond Paste
    • Vitamin Oil
      • A - soften and lubricates dry and rouh skin
      • C - use for its astringent effect
      • D - have exceptional healing qualities
      • E - used to lubricate and soften dry and rough skin

Actions on the skin:

    • The circulation is increased and skin is soften
    • Improve skin respiration
    • Increase the skin's capacity to absorb oils or creams

Effects on the skin:

    • Improves skin color and tone
    • Refines and soften skin, improving elasticity and smoothness of texture
    • Cleanes and moisturize the skin
    • A calming effect on sensory nerve ending
    • Sedative effect, enhanced by the general relaxation of the client, due to both the heat application and skilful client preparation and handling

Indication

    • Mature skin
    • Dry & dehydrated skin
    • Pre-maturing aging treatment for dry skin

Temperature of the Oil:

    • Should be warmed to a moderate temperature
    • The intensity, position and timing of the lamp will vary according to the skin sensitiry; it affects the oil mask temerature that is on the clients' skin

Additional/Special Contra - Indications

    • Highly nervouse & tense/strung clients
    • Highly vascular complexion or couperose skin
    • Hihh temperature for any reason
    • Area of dialated capillaries must be excluded from the exposure by covering them with damp cotton wool pads to prevent heat penetration.

Reminder for Therapist

    • Wash hands before in contact with Client's face or products
    • Use spatula when taking products from container
    • An even rhythm must be maintained with no sudden or jerking movement
    • Maintain an even rhythm and establish the correct rate of movement
    • Therapist should never give the impression of being rushed while performing a facial massage
