Massage Technique : Classical Movement

The primary requirement for massage is to concentrate and focus on the client, her needs, tension, etc., and perform the massage with care and awareness of the facial or body anatomy. Other requirements for massage include:

  • Maintain an even rhythm
  • Regulate presssure according to the muscles bulk and specific skin condition abserved
  • Establish the correct rate of movement
  • Choose and apply the movement correctly to meet the needs of the skin

Classical massage movement are classified under five categories:

  1. Effleurage
  2. Petrissage
  3. Friction
  4. Tapotement
  5. Vibration
